Good Humor Strawberry Shortcake Oreo
The sound of the ice cream truck never fails to bring out the kid in me. That joyful sound of them coming down the street, in their seemingly creeptastic truck, still makes me giddy. On a nice hot day (like today, whew), ice cream certainly makes things just a little more bearable. Apparently our bbf's at Nabisco share the same feelings as they have released Good Humor Strawberry Shortcake Oreo. This ice cream bar is by far one of my summer favorites, so I hope the cookie does not disappoint.
Taste Test:
Initial Smell: I was expecting a drive by strawberry'ing, but was welcomed with a pleasant wafting instead. The smell reminds me of the ice cream bar, but mostly those strawberry wafters. You know which wafers I'm talking about, their in every grandparents cookie jar in America. The sweetness is almost so powerful that my fillings had phantom aches.
Whole Cookie: Rejoice! These taste just like the ice cream bar! The strawberry is there, but not trespassing on my tastebuds. Vanilla cookies really bring everything together and make for a truly enjoyable bite.
Half Cookie: Like the Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie Oreo, removing one of the cookies makes this way creamier and more like the original dessert. Upon inspecting my discarded cookie, I noticed that there are strawberry chunks in it. Well, I certainly couldn't let this go to waste, so also had to try the sad, lonely cookie. This by far is one of my favorite cookie wafers that they have done, and would literally eat these by themselves. Whoever thought to add these deserves a raise.
Creme Only: The strawberry and vanilla flavors join forces and take me on a tasty adventure. Neither flavor is too overpowering, they both just seem to adequately shine. Would I eat tubs of this? Maybe not (I said maybe, what more do you want), but it's still worth trying.
Overall: Color me impressed! I was expecting a boring strawberry Oreo, but they really upped their A-game. Nabisco has done the Good Humor bar justice and I feel fans will be pleased.
